HELP ~ Crockpot Chefs~ HELP !!!?

Other than in stew I gave up cooking vegs in the crock pot a long time ago. They always end up cooked to death and they are soggy and never have their own flavor any more. They pick up too much of the flavor of the cooking liquid for my taste.
