How do you train a man to help in the house work?

i need help, i have lived with my boyfriend for 3 years and he still refuses to help around the house. its the only thing we really row about, he would rather see me upset then ever help! he went out today at 12.00 to football, i left the house at 9.00 to work on a saturday, has he got the hoover out? emptied the dishwasher, done some washing maybe? of course not! he would of had time to do at least one thing,what can i do?!?!
