Is taking free info available on the web and populating it in a database illegal?

I was not satisfied with the answers to my last question. So I'm rephrasing it. I'm thinking about taking some content which is freely available on the web everywhere and then consolidating that into a database and then trying to sell it online. I would give credit to each website where I got the content from. Would I still be violating any copyright laws?
