How do i install 4 conductor wire?

I have just bought a house and there are surround sound speakers in the walls all over the house. The previous owners left all of the cables but not their receiver. The cables coming out of the wall are red, black, white, and green. The receiver I have is an old Pioneer SX-205. I have never worked with four conductor speaker wire before and I want to know how to install the wire to my current receiver or if I need to buy a new one.
