Why do decent Christians continue to tolerate the corruption of the Religious Right?

Since what the Religious Right does and stands for (conning the American people with a false Christian morality based on a few divisive issues like abortion and gay rights, and often doing so in immortal, unethical and criminal ways) is badly damaging the image of Christianity, shouldn't moderate Christians everywhere be standing up and demanding that hypocritical bigots who are using and manipulating their religion to become demagogues and enrich themselves just GO AWAY--or at least stop calling themselves Christians????
